Who is Nairam Simoes?

Personal Profile

Originally from Brazil, Dr. Nairam Simoes enjoys a multifaceted international career as a performer, music educator, and clinician with a wealth of knowledge particularly in chamber and Brazilian music. Dr. Nairam Simoes will join the Arkansas State University Department of Music faculty in the Fall of 2020 as Assistant Professor of Trumpet. Prior to his appointment at A-State, he served as trumpet faculty at Lamar University and Texas A&M-Kingsville. As an active performer, he has played with the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Dayton Philharmonic, Lexington Philharmonic, Springfield Symphony, Kentucky Symphony and others. Dr. Simoes has presented masterclasses at the University of Memphis, University of North Texas, Stephen F. Austin State University, University of Campinas in São Paulo (Brazil) and was also Trumpet Faculty for the 2016 Campina Grande International Music Festival in Paraíba (Brazil). His students have competed and successfully advanced to the National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finals, in both ensemble and solo divisions. Dr. Simoes holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Memphis. His teachers included Alan Siebert, Phil Collins, Eric Berlin, David Spencer, Kyle Millsap, Scott Moore, Marie Speziale, Jim Pandolfi, and Charles Schlueter. Dr. Nairam Simoes is an artist for S.E. Shires Trumpets and Torpedo Bags.
